Frequently Asked Questions
:: VIEWING CLIPS ::
For Home page and Preview Pages...
1. I see nothing. No player or anything but an Adobe Flash Player button.
This occurs when you do not have Flash player Version 8 or above. Click the button and install it, then refresh the page you were on.
2. How do I enable Javascript? Visit this page and find your browser and follow the instructions.
CLICK HERE TO SEE HOW TO ENABLE JAVASCRIPT.
3. I am prompted to install something. Is this safe?
ABSOLUTELY! It is asking you to install the latest Adobe Flash Player. They release updates approximately every 18 months. You'll have to do it sooner or later, so why not do it now and enjoy the pristine quality of our video clips? It is simple, quick and there isn't any risk involved... plus it is free!
4. You advertize high quality clips, the ones I see are low quality... WHY? Without getting too technical, the player downloads a 100k test image (you don't see it) and determines your connection speed to our server. It then decides to show you 1 of 4 versions of the video. The faster the connection, the better the quality it will show you. The best file will stream on connections of at least 1,900 kbps/sec (If you have a 2 Mbps broadband connection, you should see it). To view the connection you have with our server, right click the player area and the detected bandwidth will appear. The connection to our server from your location depends on internet traffic at the moment and if you have any other internet applications running.
For the HD DEMO page...
5. Can I view High Definition? YES! Just make sure you are connecting to our site with at least a 3 Mbps connection and it will stream a 720p HD file to you. Click on the Full Screen Icon (beside the time display of the player) and you will then view HD! You will know if you are being served the HD version with a "HD" symbol that appears on the lower left of the video at startup.
For ALL pages that have video on them...
6. The video starts to play, but stutters.
This is normally caused by high internet traffic, slow internet connection, or too many open windows on your computer. The player will buffer the stream, but if it is constantly buffering, then press pause and wait a little bit until it has had some time to download. You can see the amount that is currently downloaded on the timeline. Close any other internet programs such as file sharing or other downloads. Also, make sure you are viewing on a decent computer.
7. Will my video have the JC/DV Productions Logo on it?
Not like you see on our website. We put this logo on all of our online clips just in case someone who is dishonest attempts to represent our work as theirs or similar reasons. We will not place the JC/DV Productions "bug" on the clips, however, you will see it on our short intro clip as you would with any movie.
8. The previews are too dark, too light, or don't look good... in fact, nothing looks good on my computer now that I think about it.
Well, chances are your video card and monitor are not calibrated. A good tutorial for calibrating your monitor can be found here:
DisplayCalibration.com | Calibrate Your Computer Display Or Monitor
9. Your site recommends a screen resolution of 1280x1024... WHY?
So you can view the pages correctly and see all of the embedded video. To change your resolution, minimize all windows, right click your desktop (not any icons) and choose properties. Then choose settings and adjust the resolution to at least 1280x1024.

Compare apples to apples... You simply can't go by what someone offers in terms of packages as not all things are created equal. Yes, someone may offer your more coverage time or bells and whistles, but we will give you a rock solid product. You get what you pay for... make SURE what you are getting for any price from any vendor!

We'll repeat what we said in #5... Compare apples to apples... You simply can't go by what someone offers in terms of packages as not all things are created equal.
7. Why do you charge TN Sales Tax on the whole package?
Because we are a real business and are required to by the TN Department of Revenue to charge sales tax on EVERYTHING we do for you unless it is out-of-state OR for services provided to tax-exempt establishments for things they are reselling, etc. This goes for the actual tangible property (product) as well as the labor that goes into producing said product. Its not just videography, photographers have to charge it as well! We don't like it any more than you do but is a reality in running a legit business.
:: PROFESSIONALISM & WORK PRACTICES ::
1. How well do you work with other vendors?
We work extremely well with other vendors. We often become friends with other vendors and refer each other to customers if they are looking for such services. We are all there for you, to serve you, and all vendors should realize that.
2. Are you unobtrusive? How noticeable are you?
Unobtrusive is such an overused word. People will know we are there, however we will not do things to attract attention away from you. During ceremonies, we don't use our spotlights, but may in receptions. We don't move around the back of the altar area............. all the horror stories you may have heard, chances are, we don't do it.
If you have any concerns, feel free to state them to us during initial conversations.
:: HIGH DEFINITION::
1. What exactly is High Definition format?
High Definition is anything over 480 lines of resolution. The 2 most common "flavors" are 720p and 1080i. Basically speaking, Standard Definition (SD) has been around since TV introduced basically, and HD is the future, but is here today. The picture is amazingly stunning, sharp & crisp, colors are remarkably accurate and breathtaking.
2. My TV looks pretty sharp and the HD in stores don't look too much different.
That's because there are several stores out there that are just up-converting SD footage onto a HDTV. We won't mention these stores' names, but best to go to a BEST place to BUY or other higher end electronic store to view their true HD display.
If you weren't immediately impressed and amazed when you saw the HD demo footage, then you didn't see the real thing.
